Welcome to TRACE
TRACE is the Texas Funeral Service Commission’s electronic regulatory portal
for anatomical donation programs. Use TRACE to register your organization,
maintain applicable anatomical records, document chain of custody, and submit
regulatory forms and requests to TFSC.
1. TRACE User Account
A TRACE user account is required before an organization can register or
access entity-specific records and forms.
If you need a TRACE user account, contact the Human Anatomical Donation
Program at anatomical@tfsc.texas.gov.
2. Register Your Organization
After logging in, submit a TRACE Entity Registration Request.
Select the entity type that best describes your organization and provide the requested
entity information.
TFSC will review the submission and verify the appropriate entity
classification.
3. Receive Your TRACE Entity ID
After TFSC verifies the registration, the organization will be assigned a
permanent TRACE Entity ID.
TFSC will provide the Entity ID to the email address associated with the
registration request.
4. Use Your Entity Dashboard
Once your user account is associated with the verified TRACE entity, use
the applicable dashboard to access anatomical records, forms, requests,
transfers, and other regulatory functions available to your organization.
Anatomical Records
Willed Body Programs and applicable Non-Transplant Anatomical Donation
Organizations use TRACE to establish records for whole bodies and separately
tracked anatomical specimens.
TRACE identifiers connect anatomical records to applicable custody,
transfer, use, and disposition activity.
Chain of Custody
Use TRACE to document custody and movement of bodies and anatomical
specimens from receipt through transfer, use, return, and final disposition.
22 TAC §206.3 chain-of-custody implementation begins
October 6, 2026.
Transfers & Requests
Submit applicable transfer requests and other regulatory requests through
TRACE as electronic workflows become available.
Submission of a request does not constitute approval when written TFSC
authorization is required.
Forms & Regulatory Processes
TFSC is moving anatomical forms and regulatory processes into TRACE in
phases. Available forms and functions will appear on the applicable entity
dashboard as they are implemented.
Select the dashboard applicable to your organization. Available records, forms,
and workflows are based on your TRACE user and entity access.
Willed Body Program
Donor and specimen records, chain of custody, transfers, distributions,
and other WBP regulatory functions.
Non-Transplant Anatomical Donation Organization
Applicable anatomical records, NADO identifiers, requests, transfers,
imports/exports, and related regulatory functions.
Anatomical Facility
Entity registration, transfer activity, receipt and custody documentation,
inspections, and applicable facility requests.
Mobile Anatomical Laboratory
Registration and regulatory functions for Mobile Anatomical Laboratories
will be added to TRACE as Phase 1 implementation continues.
